Article Processing Charges (APCs)
Overview:
At Scientia International, we believe in the power of open research. All of our articles are published under an open access license, allowing them to be accessed and shared globally without restrictions.
What are APCs?:
Article Processing Charges (APCs) are fees charged to authors to cover the costs associated with editorial management, peer review, production, and global distribution of articles. These fees ensure that your work is accessible, highly visible, and maintained to the highest standards.
Transparency in APCs:
Scientia International is transparent about how APCs are distributed:
- Publishing Operations: Technical support, maintenance, and system improvements.
- Editorial Services: Professional production of manuscripts, including formatting and conversion to multiple formats.
- Editorial Fees: Compensation for editors ensuring the quality and integrity of the journal.
- Promotion and Marketing: Increasing the visibility and reach of published manuscripts.
- Manuscript Translation: Approximately 50% of the APC value is directed towards translating manuscripts into English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Our mission is to disseminate knowledge without language barriers. We accept manuscripts in any language and translate them into English, Portuguese, and Spanish, publishing them alongside the original language.
- Waivers and Discounts: We support open research and therefore offer discounts and waivers for eligible authors.
Commitment to Open Access:
We believe that open access is fundamental to the dissemination of knowledge. Therefore, in addition to our competitive APCs, we ensure that there are no hidden costs. Rejected manuscripts are not charged, and there are no additional fees based on manuscript size or number of figures.
Discounts and Support:
We offer discounts for members of affiliated societies and authors from partner institutions. Additionally, authors from low- and middle-income countries can request discounts or waivers.
APCs for Each Journal:
All of our journals have a fixed Article Processing Charge (APC) set at €1,500.00 (one thousand five hundred euros), with no distinction between them. This value reflects our commitment to research quality and accessibility, as well as our mission to overcome language barriers.
Applicable Discount for Low- and Middle-Income Countries:
Authors from institutions located in countries from one of the groups below will receive discounts on the APC fee:
20%: Countries from "Group A" of Research4Life.
10%: Countries from "Group B" of Research4Life.
The discount should be requested at the time of submission, in the Editor Comments field of the submission system.
Considerations on Fees and Currencies:
For authors residing in countries with specific tax systems, additional taxes may apply according to local legislation. It is important to consult local tax regulations before making payment.
Language Revision:
Scientia International prides itself on maintaining a high linguistic standard in all its publications. To achieve this, we offer basic language revisions on all accepted articles, already included in the APC. However, if an article requires extensive revision, the author may be asked to make the necessary corrections, which may affect the publication time.
Funding and Discounts:
Many institutions and funding agencies recognize the importance of open access and allow research grants to cover APCs. Additionally, Scientia International may, in specific cases, offer waivers or discounts. These are assessed on a case-by-case basis and should be discussed with our Editorial Team at the time of submission. We also have a discount program for reviewers and authors affiliated with partner universities.
Payment Options:
Scientia International accepts payments in various currencies, as available through PayPal. Additionally, we offer the option of bank transfer for business accounts located in Europe (in Euros - €) and Brazil (in Brazilian Reais - R$). We recommend that authors check for possible bank or conversion fees before making payment. APCs must be paid within 5 to 10 business days after article acceptance.
Conclusion:
At Scientia International, we are committed to making research accessible to all. Our APCs ensure that we continue to offer high-quality services to our authors and readers, including article translation to overcome language barriers.
Important Note:
Only official invoices issued by Scientia International are valid for payment. We do not authorize third parties to collect APCs on our behalf. Any questions or issues related to payment should be directed directly to our Editorial Team.
